MOVIE DAY
In class we discussed about going to the movies to make up the April 15th class. I checked the movies playing in San German, but the movie Diary of a Wimpy Kid is NOT being shown in San German. The other options are the following:

LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE
Laughter has many benefits physically, mentally, and socially. For example, laughter can boost our immune system, relieve stress, make relationships stronger, and even prevent heart disease. For class you had to bring something to make us laugh. Some of you brought in a picture and others made jokes. I think we all had a good time.
For this blog, I would like you to share a scene from a movie, TV program, stand up comedy, etc. that you find funny. You can go to youtube.com and find the video. Here is my example.
This video is an example of slapstick comedy. Slapstick comedy is a type of comedy in which physical violence and activities are exaggerated to provoke laughter. This video is from The 3 Stooges. They were a comedy act starting way back in the 1930s. I remember my grandfather would watch it and laugh although he didn't know much English.
TASK: Upload a funny video. Give a brief explanation about the video. You can indicate why you chose it, what type of comedy it is, info about the video, etc.

DREAMS
Chapter 4 is about sleep. When we sleep, we dream. There are many kinds of dreams. There are the good ones where we wish we didn't wake up. There are those that are confusing or don't make any sense at all. Then there are the horrifying ones.....those terrible nightmares. Many times we don't remember our dreams. Then there are dreams we never forget. For this blog, share a dream you had.
My dream:
Although I had this dream when I was a little girl, I will never forget it. It was night time and I was in my house with my grandpa and my mom. Only the kitchen light was on. I went to my bedroom, and there was this hole in the floor. When I looked, all I could see was the color red and a bunch of demons with pitchforks trying to pull me in. I ran out of the bedroom and as I ran toward the kitchen, the big TV at the end of the hall became like a gigantic magnet and pulled me toward it. I started to scream for help because I was afraid that the TV would swallow me. I thought I was going to die! I screamed but nobody came. Thankfully, I woke up and realized it was only a nightmare!.
TASK: Now write a paragraph describing the dream. Add as many details as you can.

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
Hearts, Cupid, chocolate, the color red.......all signs of Valentine's Day. On this day, many couples go out to a romantic dinner, maybe go dancing, to the movies or wherever. They give each other gifts and try to make it a special occasion. Besides romantic love, friends and family members show appreciation for each other, too. They send cards, text messages, and give out candy. But why wait for Valentine's Day to show your loved ones that you care for, appreciate, and love them??? Take the time to show them with small details.......it's those small details that count.
I received an email from a friend with a link to a youtube video. Since in class we've been talking about music and Valentine's Day is celebrated now in February, I thought it was appropriate. Hi! Welcome to English 1101. As part of the English class, we will be working on blogs. The blogs will provide you with an opportunity to practice your English outside the classroom. Throughout the semester you will be required to comment on my blog entries.
Points will be given for your effort. No points will be deducted for errors. However, points will be deducted for incomplete work, late entries or work not done by you. Remember, this is just another way to practice English so do the entry by yourself.
At the end of each blog, a due date will be posted. Each blog is worth 10 points. If the entry is late (up to 3 days), you will only get 5 points. Entries posted later than 3 days will NOT be counted.
